Hello and welcome. I am Dr. Jasmine Benjamin, a licensed Clinical Psychologist dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care.
I provide neurodivergence-affirming care rooted in evidence-based practice. I primarily work with adolescents (16+) and adults, helping them navigate a range of cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal concerns.
My practice is guided by an interest in transdiagnostic mechanisms, the core patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior that underlie many psychological challenges. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we work together to address patterns like chronic worry, perfectionism, or people-pleasing that contribute to distress across conditions.
Specialized Services
1. Behavioral Sleep Medicine
I offer interventions for sleep disturbances, primarily through high-fidelity Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). My experience in sleep health research and clinical intervention allows me to effectively treat insomnia, nightmares, and other related sleep issues.
2. Psychotherapy
I provide individual psychotherapy for a variety of concerns, with specialized experience in:
Neurodivergence (e.g., ASD, ADHD, OCD, LD)
Mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders
Insomnia and other sleep disturbances
LGBTQ+ populations
I integrate a variety of evidence-based interventions including:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – cultivating flexibility and value-driven action
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – addressing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors
Motivational Interviewing (MI) – supporting change through collaboration and motivation
Unified Protocol (UP) – an emotion-focused treatment for anxiety and mood difficulties
I am committed to ongoing professional development, which has allowed me to acquire additional competencies in methods including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
3. Comprehensive Assessment
I specialize in detailed neuropsychological, diagnostic, and psychoeducational evaluations. A key focus of my assessment work is the diagnosis of late-identified Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adolescents and adults.
Credentials and Background
I attended Northern Arizona University as a first-generation college student. I conducted research (e.g., effects of long-term meditation experience, hypnotic suggestibility, mirror neurons) and completed my Bachelor's degree.
I completed both my Master's degree and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology at the University of Arizona. I completed the clinical neuropsychology training track, conducted clinical research (e.g., subtype of depression, flexibility and its relationship to mental health, CBT for insomnia trial) and received extensive supervised training in academic, medical, private practice, residential, and community mental health settings.
I completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Southern Arizona Psychology Internship Center, providing psychotherapy for university students with learning differences and conducting assessments for diverse and underserved community members. I capped my formal prelicensure training with a postdoctoral fellowship with Frye Psychological Services focusing primarily on assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions.
Off The Clock
Outside of my clinical work, I live in Tucson with my beloved spouse and dogs. I enjoy reading, camping in my self-built skoolie RV, and experimenting with vegetarian cooking.
